Redat Davison’s Black and Red line’s seamless design is based on the traditional hand beaded attire created and worn by various Ethiopian tribes, which is passed from generation to generation. Redat, who is originally from Ethiopia was inspired yet saddened by the women of these various tribes, they had incredible strength but she felt they were extremely over worked, “till their fingers would bleed”, Redat chose to emphasize this notion by painting the women’s fingers red and using thin red beading to emphasis blood lines.
